Blitz Royale Leaves Out Building
While Blitz Royale is fun and fast-paced, it only supports Zero Build. Longtime fans who enjoy Fortnite’s core building mechanics feel left out, and there’s been no word on whether a build version will be added.
Reskinned Cosmetics in the Item Shop
Epic is under fire for re-releasing old skins with minimal changes. Examples include Summer Dummy (a wooden version of Dummy with a scarf) and several gliders in the OG pass that are just recolored versions of previous gliders like the 4Runner. Even renders and poses are being reused from older cosmetics.
Storm Beast Pom Poms Vaulted
The Storm Beast pom poms were hyped as a new item, but quickly removed due to bugs. Players are frustrated they only got to use them for a short time, with no update on a return date.
Item Shop Shrinkflation
Fans are noticing fewer items included with full-priced bundles. Recent skins like Skillet and Barkington sell their back blings separately instead of as part of the bundle. Even major collabs like Cowboy Bebop are splitting items into overpriced pieces.
Bruno Mars Festival Controversy
After rumors of Daft Punk’s arrival, Epic surprised fans with Bruno Mars as the Season 9 Festival headliner. Some were disappointed due to Bruno already being in the game, despite the new styles being unique and culturally inspired.
Server Instability
From Creative to BR to Blitz, players have reported rubber banding, matchmaking failures, and unplayable lag. Epic hasn’t acknowledged the issue publicly, leaving players frustrated with the lack of transparency.
Timing of Squid Game Collab
While the Squid Game crossover is exciting, many feel it came too late. The height of the show’s popularity was years ago, and releasing the collab now has generated much less hype than it could have previously.
Team Rumble Removed
After years in Fortnite, Team Rumble has been replaced by Training Grounds. While the mode was no longer popular, many saw it as a reliable way to complete quests, and its removal marks the end of an era.
Weapon & Item Bugs
From vending machines that don’t work to mythics that launch early (like the Surf Cube or Squid Game SMG), players are concerned about the number of items released in broken states. Even the Zapatron, long awaited, didn’t work on day one.
Music Pack Controversy
Fortnite replaced traditional music packs with streamed jam tracks, leading to complaints about lower sound quality, volume issues, and stuttering. Players miss the consistency of offline lobby music.
Legal and Ban Drama
This year Epic sued multiple cheaters, including pro player Repuls, and then surprised everyone by unbanning players who had served a 1-year ban. The community is divided on whether this encourages repeat offenses.
Strange Social Media Behavior
Epic’s social channels have shifted from formal updates to chaotic posts like “Stomp on me Godzilla” and “Soggy snap.” While some fans find it funny, others are worried about the professionalism of a billion-dollar company.
Competitive Changes: Simple Edit Removed
Epic quietly removed Simple Edit from competitive modes, disappointing many players who relied on it to learn building. This change especially hurts new or returning players trying to improve.
Season Release Mishandling
Season 3 launched just hours after the Galactic Battle live event, giving players little time to prepare or rest. International fans struggled with the timing, and many missed the chance to experience the event transition properly.
What’s bothering you the most this season? Let us know — hopefully Epic listens and makes adjustments before the next one.
