Kraken Live Event Hits Fortnite This Weekend
The Super Showdown: The Kraken Is Real
After nearly eight years of speculation, memes, and clickbait, the Kraken is finally coming to Fortnite. Epic Games has confirmed the Super Showdown live event will take place on Saturday, August 2, with in-game timers now counting down at Demon’s Domain. The event pits Fortnite’s heroes, including Superman and Robin, against Daigo’s demon army—led by a massive Kraken boss.
Much like Chapter 5’s battle against Dr. Doom, players will face a multi-phase boss fight with new heroes joining the action as it unfolds. But what makes this event especially unique is that there’s no immediate downtime after it ends. Players will live in the aftermath of the Kraken battle for a full week until the season ends on August 7.
The defeated Kraken will leave behind a massive tentacle as a new POI. Players will investigate its origins through quests leading up to the new season, which is already teasing a bug invasion storyline at Supernova Academy. Based on graffiti by Hope, it looks like Fortnite is preparing for a Helldivers-inspired alien threat.

New Mythics, Blitz Upgrades, and Ninja’s Return
As if a Kraken wasn’t enough, Fortnite has also dropped a massive content update for Blitz Royale. Week 7, dubbed Mega City Reborn, reintroduces the Nitro Fists and surprise returns like the Kamehameha. But here’s the twist: for exactly one hour after the Super Showdown event, players will be able to use the Kamehameha an unlimited number of times, making it the most chaotic window in Fortnite history.
Meanwhile, Ninja has returned with a new Blitz Lord skin—his first update since 2020. The skin introduces five new original mythics to Blitz Royale:
- Viper AR (poisonous rifle)
- Blue Goo Gun (slows enemies)
- Get Good Shotgun
- Trash Launcher (fires junk rifts)
- More Movement Boogie Bomb
Players can influence the mode in real-time via Ninja’s livestream polls, making this the first Fortnite mode where the community controls the loot pool. There’s also a new Reveal Medallion in Blitz that pings nearby enemies periodically, making matches even more intense.
OG Rift, Map Merging, and Future Collabs
In classic Fortnite fashion, the storyline isn’t confined to one mode. Following the OG rocket launch event, a red rift appeared in the sky, replacing the blue one from Chapter 1. Just like before Season 5 began, classic POIs are now vanishing—some of which might appear on the Chapter 6 island.
One such prop confirmed to return is the Tomato Head, bridging the OG map storyline with modern Fortnite’s main narrative. Alongside this, new Spires are popping up at Outlaw Oasis, Pumped Power, and Supernova Academy—hinting that Fortnite’s merging multiple timelines and realities in the next season.
Regular BR also introduced Expert Mode Duos, removing bots for a more competitive experience. It limits lobbies to 80 real players and could be the next big shift in Fortnite matchmaking. On the loot side, Reload now includes heavy snipers and combat ARs, but removes shield kegs, redeyes, and tactical ARs.
Fortnite also quietly updated the UFO killfeed and reintroduced vending machine Med Mists. Could UFOs be returning for the invasion season? Time will tell.
Upcoming Skins, Collabs, and LEGO Surprises
This update brought more than mythics and story beats—it’s also packed with skins and cosmetics. The upcoming One Punch Man crossover is confirmed, with Saitama and Genos coming to Fortnite after launching in Fall Guys. They’ll also make history as the first anime collab to receive LEGO variants.
Other new skins include:
- Summer versions of Trace, Aphrodite, and Machinist
- Spider Agency set, perfect for Ballistic
- Explorer Luna
- Umbra Knight (final hero of the Academy)
- Polly (new starter pack skin)
- Greta Grim (Save the World exclusive)
Fortnite is also bringing back Major Lazer after four years. The return includes emotes and the fan-favorite “Default Vibe” music pack. For UEFN creators, Epic added official Squid Game voiceovers in both English and Korean, allowing them to recreate the series with more authenticity.
And yes, the viral Big Red Boots are coming to Fortnite in a collab with Mischief. It might be late to the trend, but it’s happening.
