From Scrapped Seasons to Lost Skins and Game Modes
After 8 years of updates, collaborations, and innovation, Fortnite’s vault of scrapped content is deeper than you think. Leaked emotes, cancelled seasons, cut cosmetics, and unreleased weapons—Epic Games has left a trail of ambitious ideas behind. Whether due to licensing issues, gameplay balance, or unfortunate timing, here are the most interesting Fortnite updates that never made it to launch.
One of the biggest cancellations was an entire season that was meant to replace Chapter 3’s “Vibin”. Instead of beach parties, the season was going to feature cooking mechanics, complete with over a dozen meals like Slurpy Salad and Fishstick Stew. The battle pass even featured a horrifying baby-headed version of Snap.
Alongside the cooking, Epic was also developing wildlife systems, including flying boars, tameable bears, and rats with nests. This massive shift in direction was seemingly cut short due to Donald Mustard’s retirement and the internal decision to pivot the storyline.

Scrapped Collabs and Mythics: From Juice WRLD to Mortal Kombat
Collaboration content is where Fortnite shines, but not everything reaches the item shop. One famous case is the Juice WRLD skin, which was planned with reactive RGB-style dreads. While fans were excited, the design wasn’t well received and the skin was quietly shelved.
Other cancelled collabs include a Squid Game emote, a full Mortal Kombat LTM featuring custom boons and mythics, and even a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “Go Ninja Go” emote that was cut due to rights issues.
And then there are the abandoned anime mythics. Fortnite was developing abilities for Bakugo (explosive gloves) and Uraraka (zero gravity), but they were never added—despite being fully planned for the My Hero Academia crossover.
Weapons, Mechanics, and LTMs That Got Cut
Some of the wildest cancelled ideas are related to gameplay. Epic once developed a Boogie Bomb Launcher, a balloon sniper, and a bow Minigun. We also missed out on unique exotics like an automatic crossbow and the Firefly Launcher, which turned Fortnite’s fiery bugs into ammo.
Another big one was the Storm splitting mechanic, which would have divided the zone into two circles late game for more dynamic endings. Despite internal testing, it was scrapped—possibly due to gameplay confusion or server limitations.
Going even further back, Chapter 1’s 50v50 LTM was supposed to feature a giant Ultra Porta Fortress. Concept footage showed massive base wars, but the item never released. Other unique tools that never saw the light include:
- Electric Gun (code-named Elephant Garlic)
- Golden Ticket – an early reboot system
- Weapon Charms – removed entirely in 2024
- Reboot Battle Bus (instead of reboot vans)
Unreleased Cosmetics, Skins, and Features
Fortnite’s files are filled with cosmetics that never launched. From emotes like Invisible Stairs, Deep Thought, and Unicycle, to iconic remixes like Haven’s unused item shop skin, there’s no shortage of scrapped cosmetics.
We also lost out on the Belly Dance emote and even a Beyoncé “Single Ladies” emote, which were teased in court documents but never added. Meanwhile, the Brilliant Bomber skin remains the most infamous lost skin, originally meant for Fortnite’s Annual Pass system.
Even gliders weren’t safe. Fortnite once teased Golden Umbrellas that were supposed to unlock through win milestones. Despite being tested in tournaments, they were replaced by Ranked gliders and never officially released.

Fortnite’s Vault of Cancelled Content
Fortnite has evolved dramatically over the years, but not every idea makes the cut. From cooking systems and basketball modes to Juice WRLD and Mortal Kombat crossovers, Epic has quietly scrapped dozens of ideas—some due to timing, others because of licensing issues or community reception.
But as Fortnite continues to expand with Unreal Editor, LEGO, Festival, and Reload, there’s always a chance these ideas could be revived. Until then, they live on in leaks, data mines, and our imaginations.
